I used to own a copy of this magazine.

I not only met Mike Arlen, he tried to get me drunk when I visited his studio during my first trip to London back in the mid 80's. I had bought one of his magazines at a newsstand and saw that he lived a few blocks from my hotel. His telephone number was also in the magazine so I called him to see what other issues he might have for sale. He invited me over, made me a drink in a very large glass that had almost all booze in it and let me look through all the proof sheets he had of well endowed men. I bought a sheath full of proofs and contact sheets which I still have.

I asked him how he found his models and he showed me the card he handed out to guys saying he was looking for male models with some chest development. (Chest development?! Yeah! Right!) He said I would be surprised at how many young men were willing to strip their clothes off and have their photos taken for a few pounds. And most of the guys who were willing had enormous willies. Enormous! He also rented out a studio to amateur photographers who wanted to take photos of naked men. One showed up with his model while I was there. Mike said that if I ever hired a male model to make sure there was nothing valuable lying around that they could pocket.

The most interesting thing was how he got around the obscenity laws of Great Britain. Evidently, one could show male nudes as long as the penis wasn't standing upright. He told me many times he had to tie an erection down with string that wouldn't show. The men shown here aren't badly hung but they look like midgets compared to the upright shlongs in the photos I purchased.

By the time I finished that damn drink, if Mike Arlen wasn't an ugly, old queen with a bad toupee I might have stripped down and you'd be looking at me buck naked. I was young and very good looking back then. It's the world's loss! What can I tell you?
