you know when i was younger my mother tried to "warn" me of such events as this, and parades, where gay men dressed us as women, nuns and in leather, and sometimes nothing at all! Little did she know that didn't deter me from being gay, but maybe interested me even more. Maybe she should have played it down, maybe stuck with the AIDS epidemic...after going to pride my first year, and yes seeing a man dressed as a nun, I new, without any reasonable doubt left, I was gay.

what was so interesting about the whole event in recent years is that there are a great deal of asians in attendance (and sf is becoming a largely asian city). but the media--porn films, books, pictures, videos--that come out of the gay bondage/sm/kink world often routinely excludes asians, far more than the occasional trickle of one or two blacks that appear in the media. so it is a huge disconnect among a lot of us asians to try to bond with white men who mean well but who, on a fundamental level, do not want us in their playground and show it in the creation of the media that comes to represent the gay/queer kink communities. that's why i was thrilled to see a picture of SEVERAL of my asian buddies on your blog. too bad we aren't in the porn too!
