Daily Dudetube

chat1205.jpg

It's been a couple weeks since we've had a group chat. First there was the Thanksgiving holiday and I have to admit it slipped my mind this week. So we're going to try a very special weekend chat. This is a great opportunity for our non-US readers to join in as well as those who cant make our regular Tuesday night chats. If you haven't tried the chat yet it's a great way to talk with other Dudetube fans and show off on your webcam anytime. Just head over to the sidebar at the right. Hope to see you all there.

I was chatting with my buddy JD Ferguson yesterday, begging him to be a fly on the wall of his studio. Unfortunately he even kicks out the flies when he shoots, so he's the only one alone with gorgeous models like Parker. Check out more at JD's blog.

Pics from Hills stars Heidi and Spencer's honeymoon have hit the web. I wonder if Heidi is a fan of Spencer's bubble butt. There are tons more pics up at PopSugar.

I have to say that overall I'm kinda disappointed by Marvel's Secret Invasion. I'm the hugest Brian Bendis fan there is, but I think the event would have worked better as a small Avengers crossover. I do think that Dark Reign has a lot of promise, but I'm not as excited as I was post-Civil War. I do think that Andy Diggle's new Thunderbolts tittle looks amazing and I can't wait to check it out. Check out more Dark Reign after the jump.

I'm not totally sold on this "Illumin-naughty" group. I love that Emma Frost is part of it and I hope we more X-Men interaction with the rest of the Marvel U. I assume the guy in the middle is Norman Osborne, but the hair is off.

I'm just not feeling this new Mighty Avengers team. I think Jocosta could be cool but Hank Pym, US Agent, Hercules, The Vison, Stature and Iron Man sound so boring to me. I'm also incredibly wary about them including the Scarlet Witch. Hopefully this is a new character, because I'm not sure how this all fits with the Wanda's current status.

New Avengers has been one of my favorite titles in the last few years and I hope there are some unrevealed suprises to this lineup. This cover to issue #50 gives us some more hints to the identity of the Dark Avengers. Looks like the guy in the Wolverine costume is actually his son Daken. I bet it's Moonstone in the old school Ms. Marvel Costume, a slimmed down Venom in the black Spider-Man suit and Norman Osborne in the Iron Patriot armor. I can't see why Hawkeye would be on this team, so not sure what's up with that and what does that mean for whoever is in the Ronin costume. The bottom line is I trust Bendis enough that i'll be buying both Dark Avengers & New Avengers for awhile.

Tyler:

It really would'nt matter if Spencer Pratt was hot (though he isn't) his personality makes him such a douchebag he is annoying no matter what.

thanks Matt.
yeah, i read Powers vol. 1 when I was reading Alias way back in the day (which ironically got me hooked on Bendis). I actually read Y:TLM earlier this year and damn, did I love that. One of my buddies lent me the trades so I was able to read it as a whole (a great reason to read the trades). That series was fantastic, now I'm reading Ex (now I'm hooked on Vaughn!).
I'll definetely check out Umbrella Academy (the name alone has me intrigued). Hey, maybe Fables is next! Thanks again for the recommendations.
BTW, did you pick up X-Infernus this week? It wasn't too bad, hopefully it will pay off. I've always been an Illyana Rasputin fan. Hopefully the same character will return that disappeared in New Mutants #61, at the end of the first Inferno (talk about dating myself!). Have a nice weekend..!

Heidi and Spencer are not LEGALLY married. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/11/26/AR2008112600892.html

Matt:

chriso: I feel like Civil War upset the status quo a lot more. In the end I don't feel that SI changed a whole lot. Maybe that's coming. As for Emma, Bendis said he promised he wouldnt undo all the work Whedon did. I think it fits perfect, because she's a character who would do anything to protect herself and now the x-men. If it furthered her cause I dont think she'd think twice about woking with villains.

thisboy408: I think Bendis said awhile ago that it was going to be Spider-Woman: Agent of SWORD. Which is guess is for the best since everyone on Earth hates her face. I love Ex MAchina, you should definitely check out Umbrella Academy. I also really like Fables, Powers, Casanova, BPRD and you could always pick up the Y The Last Man collections.

Matt:

I've never gotten the appeal of Andy Kubert, his characters never seem to really have any weight and are always in these extreme poses. Man, if only J.H. Williams had done the entire run (highly unlikely for a monthly) I think both the subtleties and crazy ideas would have read a lot better. I for one have finally achieved Bendis burnout, too bad as I've been waiting and waiting for the long overdue Spider-Woman series. Agent of SHIELD, no longer I guess after what transpired in SI #8.

On the brightside, I'll be buying less from the Marvel. Time I guess to try some stuff from outside the big two. Recently gotten into Ex Machina: and I love it. Maybe I'll try Umbrella Academy on your recommendation.

I actually liked Secret Invasion a lot more than Civil War, but to each their own, obviously. My main worry about Dark Reign (which looks pretty cool) is that I really don't want Emma Frost to become a villain again. I like her in the X-Men and dating Scott - she's so much more complex and interesting that way.

Kazzan0va:

Guy in middle of "illumi-naughty" is probably Pete Wisdom from MI-13. I'm also interested in what Dark Avengers is going to offer. =)

Atomik:

I used to think that Spencer Pratt was kinda hot, but he has really let himself go (or maybe he was not that great to begin with). He and Heidi are such media hogs anyway. I mean, who "elopes" and then invites the paparazzi to take some beach candids ?? wtf ?? Losers !!

matt:

Good idea on the Bullseye thing Dave. Makes sense.

Matt:

I'm had problems with the Batman art (besides Kubert & Williams). I found that when I read the whole run in one sitting the art didnt get in the way so much. I think RIP was a fun story that didnt need to be made into big event. I'm still not sure how we get from the end of RIP to Batman's appearances in Final Crisis.

Dave20:

Isn't the guy in the Hawkeye suit Bullseye?

Michael:

I hope that everyone is ready to pay an extra dollar for all of thier marvel comics. As of February alot of them are going up to 3.99! After the Secret Invasion let down I don't know what i'm going to be reading and not going to....

Thisboy408:

Yup, I feel the same about Secret Invasion too. Felt everything was wrapped up too neatly and the "shock" ending involving Norman Osborn felt waaay too forced, unlikely, convenient, etc etc. Designed not as a conclusion, but a springboard for the next event. What did you think of R.I.P.? I've been digging final crisis, but not enjoying Morrison's Batman run. I'm wondering if its because of the art. Thoughts?
