I grabbed some old Lois Lane comics when I was in Charlotte a couple weeks ago. The Lois Lane series always seemed to center on her romance with Superman and comes across pretty campy today. In the 70's the series also attempted to tackle social issues. In the infamous "I am Curious (Black)!" issue, Lois is transformed into an African American for 24 hours. In a follow up storyline Lois finds takes a break from worrying about Thorn stealing Superman to attempt to relate to the African American community.
